A Back Hall Reveal

The “hallway of doors” has come a long way thanks to COVID. What used to be a space that we all turned a blind eye to is now an actual place we like to be. Imagine that? Pretty good considering it’s one of the hardest working areas in our home.

Let’s take a tour…

You may recall we started with a pretty blank slate (see it here). Just one space with a monotone scheme and a LOT of fingerprints.

We started by adding the woodwork and then the peel and stick paper. You can read all about that here and here. The semi-gloss paint helped to keep the fingerprints at bay and the paper add a much needed jolt of color and definition to the hallway of 7 doors.

The cabinet went back in and we did a little decorating with a new mirror, plants, etc.

We also added a little bench and a wall mounted rack for coats, bags, etc.

A girls gotta have a spot to put her shoes on, ya know?!?

Once the hallway started to take shape, we turned our attention to the mudroom closet (see it here).

This project took on a life of its own with new wall mounted shelves, cubbies for the kids and a quick furniture makeover. You can read more about that here.

With two of the attached spaces looking so much better, the laundry room was feeling a bit jealous.

Although a legit laundry room makeover is on my wish list, we have bigger fish to fry in this household.

We did show her a little love with a quick makeover, tho. You can read more about that here.

Next up, some local original art for the walls.

With the project coming to an end, we couldn’t procrastinate any longer and finally focused on the DIY runner for the staircase.

I wasn’t 100% sure about the runner, to be honest. It’s a bit of a departure from my normal style, but sometimes the risk is worth it. The runner makes the space, in my opinion.

You can read more about the installation here.

It’s almost hard to believe this is the same space!

For once, I have something to thank COVID for - the shear amount of time we have spent in our home this year is what lead to this makeover. So thank’s COVID, I couldn’t be happier. With the back hall, not with COVID (obviously).

Until next time.
