Design on the Go
There's so much I love about our annual summer road trip, but one of the highlights this year (for me) was helping my brother and sister-in-law decorate their almost-done-with-construction home. I snapped a couple of pics on my phone to share some of the progress we made...it's far from done, but it's also the most "homey" they have felt in a long time.
In the living room we hung an oversize abstract painting over the traditional sideboard for great juxtaposition of styles and layered lots of art on the mantel.
Most of the furniture you see here will be reupholstered. We had so much fun creating a scheme to connect the living room to their new four seasons room.
The potential plan is to use the palm print and cabana stripe in the four season room while the greek key and brushstroke fabric will be used in the living room. We also found an amazing otstrich vinyl to be used on several side chairs.
In the dining room, we moved the sideboard and rearranged some of their existing accessories, hung plates and selected new fabric for the chairs. I also sweet talked my brother into bringing that amazing fiddle leaf fig home from the nursery while we were out selecting plants to fill the vintage footbath (she found on ebay)! This is, by far, the most complete room in their home; I'm so happy I was able to help.
In the foyer we switched out the rugs to better coordinate with the bench she found on OKL. I love the tile in their foyer, they had it acid washed to unify the former tri-toned pattern. What a result!
In their walk-out basement they created a pub area with a full bar, dark walls and faux tin ceiling - it looks amazing! We spent several hours curating just the right collected look to adorn the walls. Pretty pleased with the results.
It's been a long road of construction, but it's definitely been worth it - as you can tell by these progress shots. I can't wait to visit again and see all the changes. Thanks to Rob and Ash for letting me help out - you know I loved every minute of it!
